The Coastal Waters Consortium (cwc.lumcon.edu) and LUMCON marine education are hosting a workshop for anyone 18 years or older who is interested in gaining more insight into hypoxia (low oxygen) in the Gulf of Mexico. Participants will learn about this environmental phenomenon from Dr. Nancy Rabalais who has been leading a hypoxia research program in the northern Gulf of Mexico since 1985.

Workshop Highlights:

  • a presentation by Dr. Nancy Rabalais, LUMCON Executive Director & Professor
  • hands-on field and laboratory activities
  • a cruise aboard the R/V Acadiana

Cost: $10/person* (can be paid by check or when you arrive for the workshop).

9:oo ‐ 9:30 am: Participant check-in; meet and greet (light refreshments will be available)
9:30 am: Tour of the Marine Center and Introduction to the CWC and GoMRI
10:00 am: Presentation:
11:15 am: LUNCH (provided)
12 pm: Cruise on the R/V Acadiana
3:00pm: Wrap-up, evaluations, adjourn
